Example 2D: Create Page & Add Visualizations

Now that you have created three visualizations, you need to create a page to hold them. This page can then be provisioned to users for presentation when they log in.

Create a Page

Perform the following steps to create a page:

  1. Click Pages to access content/the list of pages.
    Content Menu is displayed.
  2. Click New Folder to add a new folder.
    A pop-up is displayed.
  3. In the pop-up, do the following:
    a) In Folder Name, enter States.
    b) Leave Show in Menu selected.
    c) Click Save.
    The States folder is displayed in the Content Menu.
  4. Click the States folder to select it.
  5. Click New Page to add a page to the folder.
    A pop-up is displayed.
  6. In the pop-up, do the following:
    a) In Page Name, enter Sales.
    b) Leave Show in Menu selected.
    c) Click Save.
    The Sales page is displayed in the Content Menu under the States folder. Additionally,  in the upper banner area, you can see the States tab with the empty Sales page available in the menu.

 

Add Visualizations to Page

Perform the following steps to add visualizations to the page:

  1. In the upper banner area, click States > Sales.
    The empty Sales page is displayed in the View mode.
  2. Click Edit Page on the left.
    You are now in the Edit mode.
  3. Click anywhere in the + box.
    A pop-up is displayed.
  4. In the pop-up, do the following:
    a) In the filter field, select State Summary.
    The State Summary map visualization is displayed in the pop-up.
    b) Click Add Visualization.
    The visualization is displayed on the page.
  5. In the top right corner, click Options and select Add Row To Bottom.
    The new row is displayed.
  6. Click the lower border of the State Summary visualization and drag it up to use half the available area. Zoom in on the map and align it in the frame as desired.
  7. In the bottom row you just added, click anywhere in the + box.
    A pop-up is displayed.
  8. In the pop-up, do the following:
    a) In the filter field, select Top 5 States.
    The Top 5 States bar chart visualization is displayed in the pop-up.
    b) Click Add Visualization.
    The visualization is displayed.
  9. In the Top 5 States bar chart, click the three dots and select Add Column to Left.
    A new column is displayed.
  10. In the new column you just added, click anywhere in the + box.
    A pop-up is displayed.
  11. In the pop-up, do the following:
    a) In the filter field, select Sales Regions.
    The Sales Regions pie chart visualization is displayed in the pop-up.
    b) Click Add Visualization.
    The visualization is displayed.
    c) Adjust the size of all visualizations as you want.
  12. Save your changes.
    You are still in the Edit mode, and you can easily switch to the View mode by clicking View Page on the left.

 

Switching between View and Edit Mode

To switch between these two modes, use View Page and Edit Page options in the admin menu.

 

Summary

You have created three different visualizations and laid them out on a page. Each one uses a different view of the same data, as configured in the earlier exercise. Next, you will enable some actions on visualizations, which will empower the user to control the data and navigation in real time.
